This is Green Health Week - an ideal time to get outside, enjoy the good weather and improve fitness and mental health.

Whether it’s going for a walk, doing a bit of gardening, joining a conservation project or simply spending time outdoors, connecting with green spaces has been shown to have many benefits for our physical and mental wellbeing.

David Booth, the council's Executive Director of Community and Enterprise Resources, said: “Our great outdoors offers countless ways to connect with nature.

“Research shows that even small moments in nature – like noticing birdsong, spotting wildflowers, or feeling the sun on our faces – can make a meaningful difference to how we feel and make us feel more connected to nature.”

Green Health Week is a fantastic time to try something new, but it doesn’t have to stop there. You can find year-round outdoor activities across South Lanarkshire by visiting South Lanarkshire Activities, or explore local walking routes with the Go Jauntly app. However you choose to get outdoors, you’ll be doing something great for your body and mind.
